Dag 21: Sathonay-Camp - St. Pierre-de-Boeuf (73,5 km)

Cycling through Lyon was a pleasure. Nice cycle tracks, seperated from other traffic, including a long tunnel, added to the pleasure of a sunny day. South of Lyon it was a different story. Suddenly ending cycle tracks, that often changed from road side, interrupted by uneven curbs, loads of trucks, cycle sluices that didn't fit loaded bicycles, ánd missing signs. I now do understand why the author wrote at a certain point 'those who want to go by train to Vienne take first exit to the left....etc." The 'café crême in Kebab City was excellent.

Anyway, it wasn't that bad. The Via Rhona that we are now following is 'under construction'. At lunchtime in a small park we'd put our transport means at an iron plaquette or statue. it had an inscription of a bicycle (one that ladies use in the Netherlands for shopping or showing their doggy around) and Via Rhona 2020. We were too early according to Maurice Bernard, a bearded man who joined us. As it was off season Maurice was now distributing folders about the Via Rhona. We had planned to sette in Condrieu at a well reviewed campsite. When we got there we only saw summercottages and bungalows, nicely organised and well maintained indeed. So we had to go further to a less well reviewed campsite. But I can tell the reviewers of 10 month ago that they now do have hot water and a nice swimming pool. And the fish terrine in St. Pierre-de-Boeuf was delicious.
