Dag 14: Fontenoy-le-Château - Scey-sur-Saône (64 km)

Delayed departure due to rains. The route didn't follow the canal any longer as it would, according to the author of the guide, become a little boring. So we followed a hillier trail. One may wonder why the guide is subtitled "without climbing", as there were some steep slopes. One turned around a church and ended at a cemetery. Two hundred meters further on there was a spotless statue of Maria Immaculata, followed by many stained others.

It was a nice calm trip, rain was never far away, but we only got a few drops. Tomorrow is the last of the three days that rains could be expected. I just read that several parts of France suffer from floods, most of them in the region we are heading for. So we are happy that it just seems to stop in time. In that respect it wasn't a bad decision to take a somewhat longer route. We are two weeks underway and more or less on schedule. Tomorrow we will rejoin the main track and is it Nelly's birthday.
