Dag 5: Namen - Givet (France; 58 km)

3 juni 2018 - Givet, Frankrijk

Today we almost entirely cycled along the river Meuse. A calm day that ended in Givet, one of the most northern French cities. Before we crossed the border we met with a Belgian cyclist wearing a T-shirt saying 'fietsen is mijn leven' ('cycling is my life'). The tanned man on his Idworks bicycle with Rohloff hub had travelled through whole Europe and many Azian countries and was now just doing a small round of France visiting friends that he had met on his journeys.

Dinant is a pittoresk city and hometown of the other Adolphe, Sax, the maker of the saxophone. Not sure if all those tourists came for the music or the Leffe that tasty abbey beer that is brewed in a neighbouring village of that name north of Dinant. Had it been south of Dinant it might have been called Neffe. Yes, a village south of it.🎷🎷🎷.

Het fietsen gaat jullie alweer aardig af, gezien het feit dat jullie al in Frankrijk zijn! Hier nog flinke regen gehad, maar alles in de tuin groeit er goed op! Weinig sproeiwerk dus. Goede reis verder! Groeten van Gerrit en Joyce
