Dag 6: Givet - Charleville-Mézières (84 km)

4 juni 2018 - Charleville-Mézières, Frankrijk

Another day entirely along the Meuse, even with less crossings as we usually have. We kind of freewheeled to Charleville. Only near the nuclear power plant atChooz we had to climb a hill worth mentioning. Whereas rural France is facing serious depopulation they were constructing new houses there with a view on those plants.

Normally the trickiest thing is at the end of the day when looking for accommodation. Today we went straight to the campsite, selected a plot near the abulation block and erected the tent in no time. When I went to the loo, the block appeared to be closed. There was another block where two of the three showers in the gent's part were out of order. I didn'f fancy to inspect the lady's part. Fortunately there was a third block where all the showers worked but the one I choosed only had cold water. It couldn't spoil the day.

I'm proud of Nelly who cycles as if she has been doing it for years, even at moments when we'd rather wanted to make a stop and take some food bu didn't find a restaurant or so. We then survive on cookies and the (last) sultana's.
